Alveley Village Band is a relaxed environment where a group of like-minded people get together for the fun of playing music. We also believe in encouraging the musicians of tomorrow and with a growing number of under 18’s joining the band, we take their safety and security very seriously. With this in mind, here is a copy of our safeguarding policy and procedures for children, young persons and vulnerable people. AVB have put these measures in place to ensure a fun and enjoyable environment for all young persons who wish to join the band. If you’d like any further information about the policy please contact us and we’ll get back to you as soon as possible.
It’s all systems go for concert season and to help kick off Alveley Village Band’s packed out performance schedule, the Shropshire Star paid us a visit at rehearsals this week. We’ve got some major events coming up over the next few months starting on April 16 where the band will be performing in aid of the Veteran’s Association. Alveley Village Band drummer Tom will taking part in a world record attempt in aid of The Ark Shrewsbury, a local charity supporting homeless and vulnerable people. When he’s not keeping the beat of the band, 14 year old Tom joins forces with Louis to play as Guitar Cubed, a guitar and cajon duo who gig all year at various pubs and festivals. (For those unsure, a cajon is 6 sided box shaped percussion instrument played by hand...he's a talented lad our Tom!)
Guitar Cubed is attempting to undertake a 24 hour+ busk starting on 1st April and they’re hoping to set a new world record, currently standing at 24 hours and 30 mins. The attempt is part of The Big Busk, filling Shrewsbury with music and entertainment, all for a great cause.
We’re all really proud of Tom here at Alveley Village Band. We have no doubt he and Louis will smash that record attempt. We’ll be supporting them all the way!
